Dreaming In Changdeokgung

The Secret Garden is the most distinctive space within Changdeokgung Palace. It was not only a place of rest for the royal family but also a place where the ideals and dreams of kings and princes lingered. Behind the working quarters, a fierce battleground of power, the royal family designed their ideals and sought to realise them. The garden therefore holds stories of rest and of dreams.
What were their dreams in the past? Are we, today, living in the future they dreamed of? What kind of world do we hope for? What kind of dream do our own thoughts and lives draw? We wanted to hold up a mirror to ourselves in the timeliness of the palace.
